Safety Solutions via PROFINET IO with Wireless Transmission
(IWLAN)
PROFINET IO also allows safety-related signals (e.g. emergency-stop
motor) to be exchanged between the ET 200 distributed IO and a SIMATIC S7-CPU.
For some applications, wireless communication (IWLAN) is the more cost-effective
solution. In some cases, it is the only option, e.g. for communication between
mobile or difficult-to-access areas in an automation system. A new use case describes
this solution. To this end STEP 7 code can be downloaded free of charge.

Safety-oriented Master-I-Slave Communication with
PROFIBUS DP
In safety-critical applications, the transfer of safety-related
data (e.g. emergency stop signal) to a safety-related (failsafe) evaluation unit
(e.g. F-CPU) must be ensured, or you must have some other way of exposing errors
in data transfer. The PROFIBUS and PROFINET bus systems ensure reliable data
transfer thanks to the PROFIsafe safety profile. The safety function example
available for downloading illustrates safety-related bidirectional Master-I-Slave
communication via PROFIBUS DP. |
Modular Safety System for More Plant Flexibility
The SIRIUS 3RK3 modular safety system is a new safety solution
for the evaluation of multiple safety functions. The key component is the central
module with eight safety-related inputs, one safety-related relay output and
one safety-related electronic output. Expansion modules can be used to freely
adapt the number of inputs and outputs to the requirements of the application.
A DP interface module communicates with a host PROFIBUS network. Safety functions
are parameterized quickly and easily using the MSS ES software, which also facilitates
comprehensive diagnostics. |

SINAMICS G120: PROFINET with PROFsafe Connection
The Control Unit (CU) with PROFINET interface and PROFIsafe
profile extends the modular system of the SINAMICS G120 series of frequency converters.
This means that the SINAMICS G120 series of converters can also be operated in
automation and drives architectures with PROFINET, for which safety requirements
exist. In addition, the G120 PM240 FS F power modules up to 132 kW will be available
from May 2008. |

Failsafe Frequency Converter SIMATIC ET 200pro Now with
PROFINET
In addition to the frequency converters of the SIMATIC
ET 200pro distributed IO system, a regenerative, failsafe version for PROFIBUS
and PROFINET is now also available. The frequency converter has unique safety
functions such as "Safe torque off", "Safe Stop 1“ and "Safely
limited speed". In addition it has regenerative capability. |
