Many SIMATIC controllers, e.g. CPU 319-3 PN/DP, the PROFINET-CPUs
of the S7-400, the new PROFINET-CPU of the ET 200S and the new SIMATIC S7 modular
embedded controllers, now communicate by means of high-speed IRT (isochronous
real time). High-speed communication is used predominantly in larger machines
and process cells, if numerous nodes are interconnected on a linear basis with
very short update times. Or if the same network is used for PROFINET communication
and parallel standard communication, e.g. TCP/IP, with a high volume of data.

The PNIODiag diagnostics package simplifies the analysis
of distributed IO modules with SIMATIC S7-CPUs – both for PROFIBUS DP systems
and for PROFINET IO systems. The diagnostics package contains a function block
for the S7-CPU and visualization for WinCC flexible in German and English.

SIMATIC ET 200M Available for PROFINET
The IM
153-4 PN interface module now enables connection of the ET 200M distributed I/O
system to PROFINET. In addition, the 153-4 module has an interface with integral
2-port switch and T functionality in the power supply. Up to 12 modules can be
plugged in within one station, saving space in the control cabinet. The channel
density can also be significantly increased by 64-channel modules ( 64
DI and 64
DO).
