The rugged SIMATIC Microbox PC 427B with a CompactFlash memory has been awarded marine approval certificates by the most important organizations: Germanische Lloyd (GL); Bureau Veritias (BV); Lloyds Register of Shipping (LR); American Bureau of Shipping (ABS); Det Norske Veritas (DNV); Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NKK). This means that this ultra-compact, fanless and maintenance-free IPC can now also be deployed in shipbuilding.

A whole series of system-tested functional expansions is now available for SIMATIC PCs. It includes serial or LAN interfaces, analog and digital inputs/outputs, graphic expansions, as well as interfaces for PROFIBUS and PROFINET. The pre-evaluated PC modules facilitate considerable time and cost savings – especially when commissioning. The industrial PCs are supplied with the function card plugged in and are completely tested regarding their functionality and EMC.
First industrial PC range with PROFINET onboard
The PROFINET interface integrated on the mainboard of the new SIMATIC PCs offers more networking options and saves one slot for other PC cards. The integrated 3-port switch facilitates the flexible and easy assembly of line or tree topologies. Simultaneous realtime and IT communication such as TCP/IP is supported on a single line.
More space in the control cabinet using industrial PC with book mounting
The new book-mounting kits enable the SIMATIC Box PCs to be installed with the smallest surface in the control cabinet, thus saving valuable installation space. When these kits are used, the interfaces are easily accessible on the front of the Box PC. Alternatively the Box PCs can also be book-mounted with interfaces facing down/up and wall-mounted with bracket fastening.
